The Algar do Carvão is situated in the central area of Terceira Island at an approximate altitude of 550 meters. Previously part of a Geological Natural Reserve, it has recently been reclassified as a “Regional Natural Monument” due to its unique volcanic features and environmental importance. You can also witness sulfur pits and lava tubes (the "Gruta do Natal"). Additionally, you can learn about the vineyard culture and enjoy the tasty wines of the Biscoitos parish.
